Zapped by my computer

April 30, 2003

Hmm… do you feel electric shock when you touch your notebook computer? Recently as I was typing on my notebook Mrs. Wanderlust, by chance, brushed her arm against mine. Immediately she claimed that she felt electricity (i.e. the real thing and not the kind between lovers) off my arm.
I was skeptical but after borrowing an amperemeter we found out that when my hands touched the keyboard and Mrs. Wanderlust’s right hand was holding my arm, a substantial current was running through us. When I removed my hands from the keyboard the current was gone.
I find this a serious problem: I have been getting a mild dose of current everytime I touch my keyboard! While I don’t know how long it has been and how it will affect my health in the long run, I am now putting a stop to this. The notebook computer is heading to the service center.
If you happen to feel a tinge of shock next time you touch a computer, don’t stand still. Get it checked and make sure you are not getting zapped without knowing it.

Upgrade

April 29, 2003

Been busy upgrading my computer’s hard drive here. I did a clean reinstall; it was more time consuming than using a Drive-to-Drive copy tool, but the old disk was so full of junk that I am glad I took the long way. Now my new drive is so much faster and “cleaner” than before, and it didn’t take more than a couple days anyway. Now, with a brand new 40GB I should now be ready for taking more junk photos with my digital camera. That’s progress.

Spring

April 1, 2003

Seems that Spring is finally here for many people living in the northern hemisphere but Mr. and Mrs. Wanderlust have been experiencing a long hot summer below the equator, more specifically, in Brazil. We had a great time here but as we ready our journey back to the northern half we ponder the two difficult issues that have developed there while we were absent: the war on Iraq, and the mysterious SAR virus. Add to that the constant threat of terrorism, Mr. Wanderlust wouldn’t mind delaying our departure from this wonderful country. In a few weeks Mr. Wanderlust hopes to put his Brazil Travelogue online. Stay tuned.
